I live and paint in what my husband refers to as "the center of the universe," St Martins , NB, Canada. How blessed I feel, to have in front of me the beautiful and tempestuous Bay of Fundy, with the highest tides in the world, covered bridges, an active fishing harbor, quiet beaches, abundant wildlife and lovely rich garden soil with nary a rock to be found.
On our 8 acres of rural heaven we raise miniature horses, operate an economy B&B with amazing healthy breakfasts, offer 2 ocean view family cottages, do some market gardening, all organic, and sell hundreds of bottles of homemade jams and jellies from our berry gardens.
When the season slows down in the fall Its time to switch gears and take up my paints and brushes and while away the the winter in a more leisurely and contemplative frame of mind. There is so much inspiration in our natural surroundings, the past few winters I've turned out seascapes and nautical themes, but it seems lately I'm gravitating towards people in my work, especially children. Maybe because I see so many of them with the horse activities we do.
